Blind

Blind

A Poem by Katie Lynn
"

I'm blind to the world in the dead of night, I can't see at all, not a single sight.

"
I'm blind to the world in the dead of night,
I can't see at all, not a single sight.

I'm scared for my life when I cannot see,
I can't see her lovely face in front of me.

I can feel her skin so warm and smooth,
Her cheeks are plump with blushing youth.

I hold her close even though I know,
I can't quite see her burning glow.

I wish I could see that perfect face,
The one that makes my heartbeat race.

But I only see her when sun blesses day,
And that will be lost when my eyes decay.

I'm blind to the world in the dead of night,
I can't see at all, not a single sight.

Author's Note

Katie Lynn
This is more of a vicarious poem. I sort of put myself in my boyfriend's place and tried to imagine what it would be like to be him. He has a genetic eye disorder called retinitis pigmentosa and he currently suffers from night blindness and partial tunnel vision. He will go blind by his late 30's.
