CourageA Poem by Katie LynnEveryone has courage waiting to be called upon.
I climb up the rocks, slick and wet,
Slowly count one, two, three, I take hold of the fraying rope, Hanging in front of me. I squint my eyes against the sun, Setting but still too bright, I catch my breath and hold it in, Pull the rope, grasp it tight. I test the rocks beneath my feet, Mud squished between my toes, I reach inside my pounding heart, Find courage, bring it close. Finally take the flying leap, Waiting for water's lash, The reward for courage is grand, Shown with a great big SPLASH! © 2016 Katie LynnAuthor's Note
