Diana's Dance

Diana's Dance

A Poem by Katie Lynn
"

A story of an eternal love.

"

She moves like moonlight through the trees,

Dancing upon her toes,

Shadows playing within her hair,

She leaves behind her woes.

Flitting across the dew wet grass,

Her eyes are wide and bright,

Her laughter fills the midnight air,

Casting an inner light.

She glows so soft and subtly,

A beauty to behold,

Gentle, yet wild, fierce and divine,

Cunning and rash and bold.

She runs and leaps and spins and sways,

Joyous and unabashed,

She dances through the wood and night,

Past the river she splashed.

She met him in a meadow, then,

Under an old oak tree,

He smiled and softly took her hand,

Her eyes betrayed her glee.

His hair shown gold in the daybreak,

And so tender, his embrace,

So warm and bright and radiant,

As sunlight graced his face.

She knew their time would be too short,

She bowed her head and wept,

He kissed her brow and cheek and nose,

Their fates, he would accept.

He kissed her then, one final time,

Another small delay,

Up, she looked with glistening eyes,

Then turned and danced away.

She left him in the meadow there,

As sunlight fell like rain,

A final glance and whispered words,

"Until we meet again."

Wowee!! This has a "La Belle Dame Sans Merci" vibe to it (told from the perspective of the "faerie's child" so it seems). Well written, and structured with a musical and lyrical flow to it to match such of the Romantic era. I'm wondering, though, about whether "His hair shown gold".....or "shone"......other than that, Well done!
