Love BirdsA Poem by Katie LynnReason and Love keep little company together nowadays. - Shakespeare, from "A Midsummer Night's Dream"
A bird that's trapped within a cage,
And yet he flies so free, Imprisoned in her beating heart, He's soaring gleefully. A bird that's born in darkness, Surrounded by her sin, Fate had made a hundred cracks, It's how the light got in. The bird so gaily beats his wings, Her heart swells up once more, A gentle kiss upon her lips That warms her to the core. The bird rejoices merrily, Trapped in his embrace, He looks so deep into her eyes, He's lost upon her face. His heart, too, withholds a bird That sings with such a passion, So as to woo a lovely one, Not vain of rank nor fashion. A heart that's true and kind and sweet, A beauty in every way, One to have and to hold and love, To cherish every day. © 2016 Katie LynnAuthor's Note
