Bad News at the Door Step

"

Bad news comes

"
Dinner was finished as she and her mom began to set the table. A big pan of roast beef with potatoes, onions, and carrots was steaming in the center of the large mahogany table with Esabelle's fancy china at each chair. It was quite a celebration for the evening with return of Aedan and Ginessa finished school so she finally being home to stay.
"Mom, will you excuse me please. I need to clear my head before dad gets home."
"Of course. Is everything ok?"
"Yes mom. Just got some things on my mind."
"Alright. Hope you are able to clear your head."
Ginessa nods her head. As she opened the door and to go for a walk. The air had a bite to it. Almost like before a storm rolled in but there wasn't a cloud in the sky. The birds sang their normal song off in the distance.
Ginessa took a path that wound around the outskirts of the kingdom. A path that was seldomly taken by many only a few were brave enough to walk it.
Why am I panicking so much I have no real reason to do such a thing. People dream every night. Big deal they still function but people don't actually see them come true either. Tonight is to be a happy occasion not another time for me to sit and wait for bad news to come. For mom I need too.
It isn't long before Ginessa returns to the small private cottage behind the castle.
"Sweetie, you forget something? That wasn't very long at all."
"No mom I am good. Just changed my mind about going for a walk."
"O-Kay. Well your father should be back any moment. At least that is what I am hoping dinner is getting cold. Go ahead make a plate."
Ginessa took a seat and started to make a plate when there was a knock in the door.
"Gin, are you expecting any one?"
"No mom."
"Hmmm. I wonder." Lady Esabelle adds as she stands to go to the door. After she took a deep breath and turned the nob. Seeing Bart outside standing tall in his dress blues. Something was on his mind it could be seen in his eyes.
"Good evening ma'am. May I please come in for a second. Sorry to interrupt your dinner like this. However it is concerning your husband."
"Yes won't you please come in," she invites him. "Ginessa would you please come here for a moment."
Bart enters the as Ginessa came into the room. Although she noticed a second person behind Bart. Who had eyes that could cut right through you with just a glance.
Who is this and why is he here with Bart?
They all took a seat accept for the visitor he chose to stand. Eyes fixed on Ginessa. Watching her every move.
"Bart you said you had some news... Is he going to be okay? Will he be home soon." Esabelle asked.
"I wish I could answer those questions for you. Truth is that I received word from Hal that something happened while the patrol was going to return."
"Oh goodness. Please tell me." Lady Esabelle begged before she covered her mouth.
"There was an ambush. A man by the title of the Dark Prince had words with the king before he killed him. I am very sorry to have to deliver this news. If there is anything I can do please let me know."
Esabelle shook her head. "Please leave."
"Excuse me?"
"I said please leave," she pointed to the door with tears in her eyes. "Leave now!!! Get out of here. I want to be alone."
Ginessa just sat there as everything sank in her mind. She had to know what happened in detail. As she thought of her dream again. That look in her dad's eyes in the end. She blinked a tear as she stood to show the men out.
She opened the door as Bart bowed politely before existing the house. Ginessa closed the door behind her.
"Hey Bart wait up please."
Although he kept walking as if she had not said anything.
"Bart! Stop please."
He stopped as he turned on his heels. "Yes Princess. What us it?"
"I need to talk to you. It is important."
"Okay I need to talk to you too. I was hoping to be able to back there but your mom is clearly not in the mood for company."
"Well let's see we just learned about dad dying. So no I guess we would not be very hospitable sorry about that."
"It is about you. But I have some other business to attend to at the moment. How about in three house meet me in the War Room please."
"Three hours. Okay Bart I will see you then."
"Thank you Princess. I will see you in three hours sharp" Bart remarked as he turned and made his way back to the castle.

My goodness!!! I never thought this would turn out that way... It's very sad and the situation is getting more mysterious... I'm really eager to know who that guy behind Bart was... Does he have any connections with the death of the king?... This is my favorite chapter so far in this book... There are few typos in it but as I said earlier I'm sure you will take care of them...

Sincerely
Dhiman
