Free Verse. I was feeling cathartic and misenthropic.
Ah, Love, Sweet Love.
Enjoy!
Trust is giving someone the Dagger and believing they won't use it. It's placing your heart on a cutting board and leaving it open, exposed and bloody, but hopeful that there's one person on this over-populated, filthy planet that won't strike you down in your vulnerable state.
So here's to you, the One who got away, unscathed, lied to my face, took the Dagger and with a gleam in your eye and devious smile stabbed me in the back, sliced and diced my heart, then served it sauteed with a side of onions and peppers.
Wow! Ok... Ok... Let me digest this first... The poem was originally about trust and being wise with it... And then...this comes!
" then served it sauteed with a side of onion and peppers."
"Don't forget the hot sauce."
"Bon Appétit."
Lol... this poem was a treat to read! You never fail to impress your readers! :)
Oh yeah... it should be "serve" instead of "served" I believe :)
Keep it up! I also just noticed it was free write xD xoxo
This made me laugh! Seriously, I think we're all capable of breaking trusts and hearts. I have done that one times too many lol :p
I enjoyed reading the dark humour in this one ;) :) Good work.
oh man, not only that he stabbed you, but served your heart as a dish, damn that's cold.
You can never trust anyone with your back, it's only a matter of time till they pick it up and stab you.
Thanks for sharing.
The ultimate insult would then be not to eat, or worse not to care enough to stab in the first place. Ach, misanthropy rules tonight.
There is a most fantastic collection of daggers at the Wallace Collection in London. Daggers of every shape, size and origin. Many are highly decorative pieces of art in their own right, unlike our modern machine made instruments of death. It is quite a feeling to look at them and wonder which ones reduced the population in their time. It has still gone up and up despite all our murderous ways. We are all the product of a certain stabbing when you think about it. Life stabbing life in pursuit of life.
I'm going to have to visit and give it a stop...as well as the umbrella shop. ; )

To add a little balance after looking at the grim weapons the collection also has Frans Hals famous Laughing Cavalier picture. Though who knows what little joke may have tickled him. The umbrella shop is not that far from the Wallace Collection actually. *bows*
