“Cities Ghetto Girl " Mona Lisa”
She hides her eyes from a world waiting
To stab her in the back the minute she turns
Around to lend a helping hand only to have
Them bite the hand that feeds while spitting
In her face…
What’s happened to this damned human race?
When did we decide it was better to shed our clothes
For the old, drunken man with a wad of ones
And the smell of three day old booze on his breath
The sticky floor snapping with each step of his shoes
In the theatre she awaits for the ding of the bell
Living in her own dark, personal hell..
Pavlov’s theory displaced in such an evil place
And she dances for the unknown man behind the glass
She turns to writhe and shake her a*s for a dollar a show
When it’s done she cries and no one knows
Sin is in and everyone wants to partake
They laugh as she trips and falls
No one standing there lends her a hand
All of her trust, her faith built on sinking sand
She runs to the only place she knows
What others call ghetto, she calls it her home
She locks all the locks, takes a look at the clock
6 am and she’s ready for bed but she knows
Sleep won’t come easy with the sound of the train
And the only comfort she has is the downpour of rain
Falling so fast, so hard and with a thunderous ‘crack!’
This is America. Land of the free-fade to black.
