![]() Let There Be Silence...A Story by SASH K.G.Everything seemed so silent; a quiet that I had many a day longed for. There was now a feeling of solace in my mind, a never ending vacuum; with only the occasional breeze that would dare to whisper in my ears from time to time. As I closed my eyes and pondered back on the ear-ringing moments that obligated me into sleepless nights, I felt not the need to run away anymore, rather, I found myself gliding through those thoughts in a state of complete placidity. Mustering as much courage as I could, I opened my eyes and I saw them, clearer than the waters that flowed through the creak in front of me; the demons that inevitably chained themselves to my heart. They began to speak to me as they always did, only this time was different; they were inaudible. Turning my attention away from them, I stood upon the green fields around me in complete awe, realizing the scenery had changed somehow. I wiggled my toes into the soft dirt beneath me, as if to plant myself into the new foundation of these lands. I could feel the sun’s rays slowly press itself upon my face, it was warm; it was welcoming. The air that I inhaled was no longer pervaded in ash, but instead, a soothing incense that calmed me further. It was at this moment that I knew, I was where I always dreamt of being. I was finally here. The demons proceeded to follow me as I began to stride through the open fields, but I did not heed their motives for doing so. With each beat of my heart, I knew that I was now in control, emancipated from the fear that they punished me with. For 17 years it was always their game, but now it was mine. As I continued walking on towards the little cabin that sat in the middle of this magical plane, I sensed the demons attempts to try to stray me off course; but reaching to no avail. My immunity was now far to great for any spell that they could hope to conjure up; and so, they gave up, vanishing into the great mountains behind me. Within a few moments I found myself at the foot of the cabin; the place I could now call my home. I sat down my bag of emotions at the front of the house as I proceeded to open the door; there was no more fear. Through the small opened crack the air of many great things blew past me, and I smiled a peaceful smile. I watched myself from a distance in secret, as I gently entered the door, shutting it behind me; and all I could hear from then on was silence. © 2014 SASH K.G. |
