Memorable Evening

Memorable Evening

A Poem by sasha

Memorable Evening

Gray rain beats and patters against the windows

gray water rains down from the roofs all day

the night turns into morning, grey and cold,

gray faces of the people in the crowd, streets,

all clothed in gray with no cheer or brightness…

continuous white line without spaces in the middle

of the grey road and at a red traffic light to stop,

decline your head, decrease in speed and slow down,

sometimes to hear your own voice within yourself…

what if your words, your thoughts are carried into

another world and how much we have in common…

let’s memorize the order of the planets that long ago
Sophocles saw on the Agaean , he thought of human

misery. To slow down to hear the sound of the distant

Northern sea, the sea of faith. It’s all about suffering…

and one could hear continuous weeping from

the adjacent room, grey eyes that filled with pain,

pure pain at the end beyond the limit of King Lear…

miserable form and happy content, it’s all about suffering,

let’s memorize the order of the planets we used to know

by heart since that memorable evening long after the storm

Thank you, Jacob, for your words and associations, it would be good sometimes to keep a cheerful face..

is this what poets do? live in a gray world...writing about bleakness constantly...???

i like your use of that color...i happened to like gray...

this reminds me of The Portrait of Dorian Gray"

years pass but some of us don't seem to be moving with it...the picture of life, gloomy and gray...but can we keep a cheeful face? don't know...

now let's see, what is the order of those planets?
