Hollyhocks

Hollyhocks

A Poem by sasha

What a nice surprise today!

What a lucky, splendid day!

I touched scarlet hollyhocks,

Their soft centers & green stalks.

Gorgeous plants bent in salute,

They looked solemn, they were mute.

Who will guard them in the night

And sing lullabies “Sleep tight”,

And embrace in the moonlight?

I like how this (childish?) enthusiasm slides into the worries of what will happen in the evening.
