sepia

A Poem by Sarra Sahara
"

comparing people to a photograph... i don't know why i didn't think of it before!

"

at first they will see nothing,
but oh, we know there's something.
time will pass, and we will grow,
and with that they will see and know.

the bleak white fades, dark shapes settle in.
our foundation is made, eternity may begin.

we will take a daring path,
and dive into the sepia bath;
we'll make a lovely photograph.

they'll wash us off, and say, "so brave."
one will place us in a showcase
to remind others of warmth and long summer days,
of melting melon popcicles and a serene face.

passers-by will pause and stare, whispering, amazed,
"it faded the right way."
we'll fade the right way.
