do you know?

do you know?

A Poem by Sarra Sahara
"

based on a true story.

"

did you see me at your show?
standing there, smiling eagerly?
or were your eyes perpetually closed,
as you sang all the while, so sweetly?
i watched and listened, and sand along inside,
and i knew that we were meant to be.

i sat at home and waited for you to get online.
do you know that it's me?
the girl in your truth box?
the lyrics from the sweetest songs?
the ones that give us such emotion,
and constantly blast from our cars' stereos?
i take those pictures of myself, i know you'll see them.
tell me, do i stand out to you?
do i put a smile on your lovely face?
do your eyes shift romantically from behind your glasses?
tell me, what do you feel?

i will follow you.
i will be your biggest fan.
my feet will tread on water,
just so i can see you shine.
i hope you get the recognition that you deserve.
i waste my time and spray paint on you,
and i love it when you see the results,
and smile so sweetly like an angel,
like an angel that belongs to me.

i am lost in this innocence that you have created,
and i flail about in the midst of this love triangle.
forget about her.
remember that i love you.
do you know that i need you?
that you have taken over me,
that i pray to starlit skies,
for you to love me back?
tell me, do you know?

tell me, what do you think
about us, about whatever else overlaps us,
why you deny our destiny.
it's her. she set up red tape and flashing lights,
driven to keep us apart.
i'll show her, i'll show the world,
how it feels to sit here, restricted, neglected,
with nothing to do put ponder about you.
i can hardly bear it. tell me, do you?

remember now, i love you, with the fibers of my being.
you are my conciousness, my hope, my ambition.
do you know how much i need you?
that my life is simply you?
remember that i love you.
tell me, do you?
