I was asked by a friend to come up with a poem about absence so here it is. It was an on the spot job.
There is an absence of feeling,
I am so numb,
I feel deaf and dumb.
Reality stands still,
so might my heart.
Am I God's creation,
his work of art?
Or am I just a pawn
in His master plan,
to live and die,
by the will of his hand?
My vision is blurred,
the whole world is reeling,
but i am so numb,
there is an absence of feeling.
For an on the spot writing, it is good. After reading this, well, I felt like reading it again. For one, it's very short but really direct to the point. In just a few lines you've described how people can sometimes be so insecure with their own existence that eventually leads to being numb. I felt like I was the persona in the poem, someone who wants to care, to feel something, but just can't. Wonderful Poem.
