Still I Sleep

Still I Sleep

A Poem by Sarcaldwell36

I find solace in the darkness, the emptiness of my soul, blank spaces of my mind. I find solace in the calm which predicates the dangerous storms of thought. Swells that build with every haunting memory, only to come crashing down on the sand that is my emotions. The hurricane of unwanted arousal clouding all that is good in the world. Laying a canvas over the globe and painting it black. Dreams so distorted they dare not be spoken. Reality prevailing further than my fondest experiences. I am tormented by the images no longer at bay. Until my eyes are awakened by the torture of my subconscious. And I remember so vividly why I need not sleep any longer.
