Funhouse Mirror

Funhouse Mirror

A Poem by Sara

The lens of her minds eye is tinted
And blurred and cracked and smudged
She sees herself through squinted lids
In a mirror made for the judged

Her self loathing is invincible,
Save for hate's Achilles heel
She is searching for that hero
The savior whose been eager to reveal

"You are wonderful" He tells her
"And I've been waiting for this day
To wipe your tears and lift your head
Then show you my favorite way"

He cleaned away her cowardice
And reminded her stay strong
Whispered to her heart of hearts
"I'm always here, and you'll always belong"
