Right Here, Right NowA Poem by SarahthirkThis is about a couple who's love has passed the test of time.Right Here, Right Now Verse: Sitting on the porch steps, dreaming 'bout the future It's crystal clear what I want, ain’t a single blur We're smoothing out our plans, naming our kids I can already see the baby pictures, a spark is being lit Pre-Chorus: We are young, but so far ahead I know it will work, I can feel it in my head Chorus: Right now, I’m walking down the aisle Your sparkly blue eyes smile at mine You take my hand and say to me “I love you, that’s the way it will always be” It’s hard for me to not just shut you up and kiss you Because every second you ain’t in my arms I miss you And we’ll say our vows, right here, right now Verse: Taking the baby pictures, a tear comes to my eye Because of the beauties that are now mine No other love has ever brought me this much joy For once in my life, I ain’t being played with like a toy Pre-Chorus: Young at heart, but ancient in experience What will this grow to? I am curious Chorus: Right now, I’m driving down the highway She’s going off to college, seems like it’s been just a day You take my hand and say to me “It’ll be okay, you gotta let her free” It’s hard for me to not smile and cry with all the pride in the world We raised her good, but now she’s gone, our baby girl And we’ll ride this storm out, right here, right now Bridge: If we can last 30 years, we can last 30 more We can survive a hurricane if we survived that slamming door Chorus: Right now, I’m holding another baby I hope “Grandma” is her first word, well, maybe You take my hand and say to me “This is where we were always meant to be” It’s hard for me to keep it together, I’m overflowing with bliss You had me locked on you since that very first kiss And we figured it out, right here right now Outro: Sittin’ on the porch step, remembering when we were still in high school
