I Know

I Know

A Poem by Sarahthirk
"

This is about when you're so used to having failing friendships that you already have a plan, or something like that, for when it happens again. Like it's normal.

"
I Know

Verse:
That September 15th, you were smiling back at me
The grin has faded, and so have we
My hearts already been shattered a thousand times
The string that holds me together is already untied

Pre-Chorus:
I watch you walk away
As I whisper to myself

Chorus:
I know those words like the back of my hand
I've got a getaway all mapped and planned
I know those eyes, they pound into me
But I've been there before, ain't nothing I ain't seen
I'm not gonna bother with another losing war
You left, you're gone, and I'll move on, it's not worth fighting for
I've traveled on this road
In the blinding, piercing snow
So as long as I don't fight it won't grow
I know

Verse:
If you ever call again to make me apologize
I'll know right then I won the grand prize
But from now on I need to keep my eyes off the phone
If I don't, I'll call you up, and that's just what you want

Pre-Chorus:
So I'll just sit on this floor
As I scream to myself

So as long as I don't fight it it won't grow
I know

Bridge:
Walking down the block with the sun smiling back at me
So this is how it feels to not beg on my knees
I've finally learned my lesson
I'm done

So as long as I don't fight it it won't grow
I know
Oh I know
