Christmas EveA Poem by SarahthirkI wrote this song the night before by first day of freshman year. I was so excited. The first day ended up horrible, but that has nothing to do with this song. Haha.
Christmas Eve
Verse: As I walk through that door, I'm gonna find the key That'll unlock this cage and set me free Smiling up and down the crowded walls From here, I hope no one ever presses pause Woken up from a long, painful sleep For the first time, I can believe That old brick building is where I belong So I'll check that clock all night long Pre-Chorus: Seven hours left till the alarm goes off Try to breathe slow, but the feeling won't stop Chorus: My heart's gonna jump straight out of my chest A glorious journey is lying ahead It's just a few baby steps away I've waited 14 years for this day Why can't the night sky fade to dawn? It's 12 AM and I'm writing this song The stars are aligned this August night I'm leaving the past far behind Don't think I'll catch a wink of sleep This is my Christmas Eve Verse: Finally letting down my guard, you gotta live and learn Everybody's worn smiles before, now it's my turn If I crumble and fall and the stars fade to dust Oh I'm not gonna let my heart die down to rust Pre-Chorus: Five hours left till the beginning of my life Not gonna let these 4 years run dry Chorus: My heart's gonna jump straight out of my chest A glorious journey is lying ahead It's just a few baby steps away I've waited 14 years for this day Why can't the night sky fade to dawn? It's 2 AM and I'm writing this song The stars are aligned this August night I'm leaving the past far behind Don't think I'll catch a wink of sleep This is my Christmas Eve Bridge: Finally drifted off into a dream It was as beautiful as the picture seemed Colors everywhere, no black or white Not a single fear in sight Pre-Chorus: Hear the alarm, time went slow yet so fast The sand is at the bottom of the hourglass Chorus: My heart's gonna jump straight out of my chest A glorious journey is lying ahead It's just a few baby steps away I've waited 14 years for this day Why can't the night sky fade to dawn? It's 7 AM and I'm writing this song The stars are aligned this August night I'm leaving the past far behind Don't think I'll catch a wink of sleep This is my Christmas Eve © 2013 Sarahthirk |
