Hades

Being the oldest of three brothers, Hades was stuck with the responsibility of watching over Zues and Poseiden at a very young age. Thier mother Rhea had sought to hide them from their paranoid father Cronus, and could not be near them lest he discover them.

 

After being discovered and eaten (thanks to one of Zues' temper tantrums) by his father Hades developed a strong dislike for Zues.

 

During the titan war, he befriended Prometheus, finding that he and the god of forethought both shared higher levels of intellect than the other gods. However, the friendship was short-lived due to Prometheus' defiance of Zues. Hades, as ruler of the underworld, had no choice but to follow through with Prometheus' punishment. Though it is thought that their friendship in previous centuries, may have been the reason that he allowed Prometheus to escape from the underworld. (READ ABOUT THAT IN 'FIRE' MY FIRST NOVEL.)

 

Hades used his wily intellect to gain himself the wife of his dreams: Persephone. Thought the two of them had a rather rocky relationship at the start, due to his trickery and entrapment of the girl, Persephone and Hades appear to have the best relationship by far out of the gods.

 

He is more powerful than each of his brothers and has an interest in just about anything that pisses them off. He will side with Poseiden rather than Zues on most occassions, and only visits Olympus when an opportunity to irritate Zues appears. He takes orders from no one, and takes his job very seriously on most days.  

 

He is perhaps the richest of the gods, and is generally disliked among the others of his kind, due to his status as the god of the underworld.
