She Sang The BluesA Story by Sarah HaleShe sang the blues.
The stage was dark, not unlike the rest of the room, except for a dim light that shone on the young girl behind the microphone.
She didn't look like much. Her blonde hair hung in frazzled strands around her face and the silver-white dress she wore, hung around her loosely. Her eyes were closed as the band began to play, something about her had all of my attention, despite her messy appearance. She opened her mouth and her brilliant blue eyes landed on the shadowed crowd as her words echoed through the suddenly silent room. For the first time in some time, I smiled, she sang the blues.... © 2010 Sarah Hale |
