Grandad

Grandad

A Poem by Sarah
"

This poem is about my grandfather. My favorite time with him is when he tells me his stories. I was thinking about him this morning and decided to write this poem. I hope y'all enjoy!

"

Tell me another story

About your triumphs and your glories

Even if you’ve already told me

Tell me all your favorite stories

Tell me about your glory days

When you were young and full of play

Tell me how you loved one woman

Married her and became a husband

Tell me about your rascally kids

And how they grew up so strong and big

Tell me how your life wasn’t perfect

But in the end how it was so worth it

Tell me before it’s too late

For you are turning old and grey

I want to bask in your memories

For they are so important to me

Tell me because you are wise

For you are perfect in my eyes

This reminds me of my mom oddly, and not my granddad.
Well, both.

You've wrote it so well. It's really touching. I always talked to my grandpa, quite often, and mom always encouraged me to do so. It was very important to her that I'd talk to him. Not because she needed me to know about his past, but because she knew it will bring us closer together.

A few years back my Grandpa published an auto-biography, I've read it in one crazy all nighter. It changed my perception of the person. We really have to take what we can, while we can.

Thank you for a wonderful poem.

Lovely poem for Grandad
The second verse needs a little work on the last line rhyme
And the last two lines could be separated from the verse to show finality

You should go read it to him.

Its a rough piece, i gotta say. And very very sad. But if this is what you're going to write. I think you nailed it!
Well done!
