Daddy

Daddy

A Poem by Sarah Giancola

 Daddy,
When you threw that glass bottle on my head
It shattered
And cut my head open.
I bled, and you burned with with your cigarette while pretending to check it
Then you grabbed my arm
And threw me against that cold, uncaring wall;
Almost punched my face
But the alcohol blinded you
And now you're yelling
How much of a disgrace I am
I'm not your little boy.
I'm a little girl
Not what you wanted
Not that you care

Daddy,
I still love you
Like I loved mommy
Before you slit her throat
And put her to sleep.

Daddy,
Can you make me see mommy again, please?
