Dear Daddy

Dear Daddy

A Poem by Sarah Giancola

Dear Daddy,

Remember the dance we had at my prom?
That was our first dance together.

I wanted to cry oh so badly.
But I didn't.
Because I knew that might have been our last,
Since you won't give up your drinking
Maybe I won't be able to invite you to my wedding.
Daddy, don't you want to have a last dance?
Don't you want to walk your first, oldest little girl down the aisle? Or will I do it alone?
Daddy,
Please,
Get better.
Get help.
Get something...
I want you in my life...
But I can't have it if you're always drunk,
I don't need another pet to take care of.
All my other fishes died.
I don't want you to end up that way.

Daddy, daddy please, please get fixed. I need a father in my life.
I need what I never had.
But I've been fine without it for 17 years, maybe I'll be ok for the rest of my life...

But daddy...
Please do something...

Daddy...
