A Poem by Sarah Giancola

Even when it means nothing,

there's something in every hearts choices
On this path we try to hide
All our teardrops from their eyes
When you don't know what to do,
Don't know what to think about
Because you just don't know where to fall
But every wall seems to be up and around you
When nothing means everything,
And everything means nothing
Just take your hearts advice...
Because even if it hurts, it's what you want most...
And you just can't help what the heart has to say.

Interesting perspective. I definitely think it could be developed further, though--I don't find this piece very engaging. It's very "spoken word"-esque, but the words themselves lack the weight that could elevate the piece (however paradoxical this statement reads).

Thanks for writing,
J.
