Some Stories Take a Lifetime

A teardrop fell from a little girl's face

when she tripped one day on the sidewalk.

Her knee was cut,

and bleeding,

and sore,

and she had no one to help her.

Then a shadow fell down

across her face,

and there stood her knight in armor.

-

The little boy stopped to help the girl,

he escorted her to his playhouse.

Her knee was red,

and bruising,

and torn,

so he put his plan to action.

When she sat down,

upon her knee,

he stuck a special pirate band aid.

-

From that day on he protected the girl

from wounds inflicted on limbs or soul.

Years flew by,

and time

passed quickly,

until he found himself on one knee.

That little girl

was now a young woman,

who said yes to her knight in armor.

-

Man and wife, they faced the world,

and one baby transformed into three.

Life was tough,

but together

they survived,

turning their home into one of love.

Two little girls,

and a little boy too,

grew from toddler to teen in short hours.

-

Retirement wasn't boring at all,

for the couple had endless adventures.

Children all grown,

so all alone,

they traveled,

living their dreams with each other.

This cute old couple

did as they pleased,

holding hands as they rode Thunder Mountain.

-

A teardrop fell from an old woman's face

when she stood that day by his headstone.

Her heart was broken,

and lonely,

and sad,

because he'd left the world without her.

But this old lady

needed her knight,

so she passed the next morning to go find him.

A very nice story in this poem. I like the journey of the two people in the story. I like the way you led the reader though a life and experiences. A very good ending to a outstanding poem.
