Not Every Maiden Needs SavingA Poem by SarahFor those of us anti-damsel-in-distress girls. :)Not Every Maiden Needs Saving Upon his horse he sits, haughty, proud. he draws his sword, and leaps to the ground. - "I will save you!" he cries, raising his sword in the air. The dragon lumbers nearer, but I turn away from the knight. - From the rack I take a sword, from the ground, a shield. I face the dragon. - "Maiden! Take cover!" It's an order, but I don't listen. I push the knight aside. I can fight my own battles. - The dragon springs, the brave knight cowers, I raise my sword and steel meets scales. - Claws rake the air, I block with my shield. Then a blast of fire, but I've already rolled to safety. - This is no normal fairytale. I am no damsel in distress. I don't need a knight to save me. I can fight my own battles. - Watch me as I fight, you'll see me win. - Stand aside, and watch me conquer. © 2012 SarahAuthor's Note
