A Poem by Sarah M

the voices of your demons are temporary

but your suicide is permanent

your demon wants you in the cemetery

six feet under in cement

the voices of your demons are temporary

but your suicide is permanent

your demons hear music when they read your obituary

because over you they reigned dominant

the voices of your demons are temporary

although it may not seem that way

getting rid of them is necessary

or else upon your soul the devil preys

he uses the demons to distort you

he sends them to manipulate you

he employs them to destroys you

so that he may devour who you are

but the voices of his demons are temporary

they do not define who you are

and when you remember that they’re imaginary

your mind they can no longer scar

you know suicide is permanent

but you think it’s the only solution you have left

you believe your demons are totally tolerant

and you take your life, letting them get away with theft

they’ve stolen your soul

they’ve won their twisted game

but even now you pay the toll

because it is your soul they now claim

you must not let them win this sick game

it only makes them stronger

without any souls to claim

the devil becomes smaller

his demons may be strong

it may be hard to rid your mind of them

i promise that you’re wrong

if you think they are impossible to condemn

thinking things will never get better is unwise

so we will wait for say our farewells

so if your inner demons tell you otherwise

just say go f**k yourselves.

i know where you are

i’ve been there many times before

examining each individual scar

and feeling your soul become sore

let me put it this way

you may think your scars show weakness

and that they scream every word you could never say

and so you view them as meaningless

but please listen to what i have to say

your scars show your are strong

and have overcome the demons in your way

and they could never stop your life from being long

so with my words all said

and your demons in your head all day

i beg you to remember my voice instead

please stay.

Ignore lack of capitalization. Kind of part 3 of 3 (part 1 is "arguing with my inner demon" and part 2 is "a message to my inner demon"). Any critiques and constructive criticism welcome!

I like how you repeat "the voices of your demon are temporary," it's a compelling line, insightful and true. It's interesting because the narrator isn't saying these demons aren't real thus not trivializing the person's problems but reminding them that most pain is not permanent unlike death.
