Have You EverA Poem by Sarah M.Have you ever visited or simply driven throughout a town or a city and you felt overcome with excitement, you were captivated by each fragment? You enjoyed every aspect and detail of each building, bench, and flower so frail. Disappointment came when you had to part because you felt welcomed by the art, comfortable looking in a stranger’s face. Oh, have you fallen in love with a place? Have you ever read a book in one night? So addicted, you used the moon for light. But that terrible moment came right then, when you stumbled across the words "The End"? As soon as you finished, you wanted to start back at page one only because you felt alive and happy reading each word. They taught you lessons that you’d never heard. You went back to page one for another look Oh, have you fallen in love with a book? Have you ever listened to a song ‘round and the melody, the words, and just the sound made you forget what worried you so much and being happy was simple and such. That song instantly became your favorite because you felt completed by it. You were understood! It had been so long. Oh, have you fallen in love with a song? Have you ever seen a picture of grace, laughter captured, or flowers in a vase? And did you stare blankly as moments passed? Something so simple changed your mood that fast. You printed it out, it hung on your wall. Or you stared more and did nothing at all. And I can nearly guarantee you this, Your thoughts have changed, you sit to reminisce. The thoughts that passed made you happy, I’m sure. Have you fallen in love with a picture? Now, have you ever met a person who has made you fall in love with these things too? You take a long look into their blue eyes and you are in that place, much to your surprise. You live the story of those characters from the books, the songs, the photographers. You felt excited, welcomed, comforted. You never felt so alive or content. Nothing about them was completely new, You had met them before, they understood you. The way their eyes stared back, you were filled in. All that was missing, was there with a grin. You were completely absorbed and intrigued You fell in love with a human being. © 2015 Sarah M. |
