The Traveler

The Traveler

A Poem by Sarah Lynn
"

I don't know when I wrote this, I found it in my email from middle school.

"
I hauled myself into the car,
Of a train heading west,
A little past the second hand.
And for a moment, I could breathe.
I dropped it all.
The pressures. The enemies. The alliances.
It smashed into the ground.
Shattering, my life.
I dropped it. Purposefully.
Just like I was supposed to.

I peered out the window.
Or maybe I just peaked?
Either way, I saw you.
Your smile in those crimson leaves.
Your eyes in that dull skyline.
Your promises in the dead wind.
I saw everything.
My future on the map.
Twisting and turning.

Your doorstep never looked so lonely.
Allow me, please sir, allow me.
I've come all this way.
Just for a little bit of company.

has a listless nostalgic feel to it, like lost love.

I'm twenty years young. I've been through more than I'd like to admit to. Almost all of my poetry is based on true events, real people. I have a horrible imagination. I take things at face value. I fi.. more..
