The Wall Between UsA Poem by Sarah Lynn
Sunken lids and heavy eyes,
It's always the same bullshit lines. Felt tip pens ink up my thoughts, Rip open my soul and expose my flaws. He claimed it was love, I claimed I was dead. Where would you like to be instead? The question spun until my heart was drunk, Until every cell in my body had sunk. Anywhere but here, the old cliche, Unless you can give me a reason to stay? My voice softened to the dim light,Pieces of my skin stitched too tight. It was the silence that ripped me in half, And took me for everything I had. His blood twitched as he turned and sighed, Well, then, I guess this is goodbye. © 2011 Sarah LynnFeatured Review
