I am RealA Poem by Sarah DeanYou’ve come to watch the show, As I face down to my foes. Who think they are it, when all I see is a steaming pile of Fake s**t.
So please, if you’ll take a seat right here, Call into the crowd ‘Fight!’ whilst you sneer. Because you’ve never thought much, Of me. But today you’ll see. Just how courageous I can truly be.
So I never speak up, So I’m different to you, So what? Am I not alive? Who knew? That I do not think like who? Your friends or you?
You say I look like a dead Girl, who crawled out of the mud and returned to school. And maybe I am but I’ll tell you the truth, It won’t last forever, our youth.
Every day you make me scream, Because what runs through my bloodstream, Is hate, At myself, For allowing you to make me feel . . . anything.
What you do not see, Is the strength you installed inside of me. And as you mock me with cruel glee, At least I know, deep in my heart, I’m realer than you’ll ever be.
