Lazy Days

Lazy Days

A Poem by Sarah Courtney-Dean
"

This is a poem that harks back to the long days of summer.

"

Lazy hazy sunlit day,
Bees hover over
Earth toned wallflowers
And purple lavender
Drunk with the scent
Of Summers colour.
While my cat slumbers
In the midday heat
Dreaming of birds that whirl
In the blue soaked sky.
At days dusky end I sit
Listening to the drone
Of the bees returning to
the hive sounding
like squadrons of planes
returning to their base.
Then the cat, charged with
Sun stored energy
Wakes, stretches,
And goes on the prowl.
While I sleepy
From the days heat
Sit and ponder.

Sarah.

Beautiful. I love the imagery and the sense of time stretching lazily... I love this:

"Dreaming of birds that whirl
In the blue soaked sky."

Thank you Ruth. I have to say it is a personal favourite of mine.
I very much like it :). It's simple, but beautiful because of it. Really relaxing. Makes me wish summer wasn't already over...
