WanderlustA Poem by Sarah ConderBeyond
my window, distant steel trains whistle by, Gleaming
with the promise of a hasty flight Into the
horizon. Locomotives
faster than a fluttering moth’s wing, I am
liberated, knowledgeable in the miles upon miles Of
glittering track in each and every direction. Fiery
sparks of Wanderlust; A
spontaneous desire to travel, To see
the sun-drenched Spanish shores, The
graceful Parisian architecture, the entombed mysteries Of the
Orient East. The
west-blowing wind delivers the beckoning sound Of
rattling rails and animates these four walls With the
earth’s vibrations. It
shares in my sense of eager anticipation And
longing. © 2013 Sarah ConderFeatured Review
