Jump

Jump

A Poem by Sarah Carswell

I sit in front of faces with no features
So many words shared between us and yet nothing is said
I know nothing of them and they know nothing of me
But we label each other friends
We both have fears and joys
Our thoughts unique
And as our voices blend together I swear I can see their identities deflate
With ever programmed phrase they speak, they're letting go of themselves
Giving in to the perpetual rotation of the Earth
I let them talk, trying to keep the air in
Hoping I can float above the raging current that threatens to pull me under and drown me in the things I claim to love
But a voice inside of me says, "Jump!"
And I know that if I do I will never come back
Come back to what?
My story can be told in two lines with no climax
I live my life by traveling on the winds of others' spirits
Hoping to get lost
Knowing I'll be forgotten and wishing to forget
So I decide
Not for myself but for those who may forget me
I take a deep breath
And I jump

Besides loving to write stories, which seems a little obvious, I also have a passion for reading and painting. I may have a bit of a TV addiction but what can I say? I love all types of storytelling. .. more..
