Growin' Up

Growin' Up

A Poem by SarahTutun
"

This poem asks questions that young teenagers may ask themselves as they are, "growing up"

"
What's happened to those childhood years
When the dark was one of your biggest fears?
When all you had to do was have mom plug in the night light?
When tears would only come
If you'd trip and fal
and your biggest concert was who took your favorite dol?
When storks still
Delivered babies
And you'd never heard the words;
flirt, witch, tease?
When before you knew who
you could always turn to
Now it's who's with your boyfriend?  Isn't he supposed to love you?
As we grow up life
got so much harder
and it feels like you are always
playing the martyr...
As  you  grow up
So  much energy is spent
And you're thrown into the real world-
no longer innocent.
