Calling for God in repentanceA Poem by LazerRaysA cold dark field leading to a forest, The devil hums an alluring chorus, A young girls eyes light up at the beckoning, And runs before even questioning, Her parents chant rituals in the house behind, “Lord please take your child into the light” Twisted arms stretch out for her hair, The girl sobs and cries out scared singing from the woods "come hide", Her blonde wouldn’t reflect in the night, The end of the field is nearing, For a second she stops in the clearing, She stares at the moon and prays to God, “Bring back my mother, that woman is not” Clouds close over, there is no reply, There is no one to comfort her, only the sky. Her mother used to smell like brown sugar, and arms opened up to hug her, Played with her blonde hair and singing, poking her until she was giggling, "Jesus loves you" Her mother whispered, But within two years her smile dispersed. Church 4 times a week per mandatory, Her mother feared the purgatory, She called out to God to forgive her sins, The imaginary blood she could never rinse, Her guilt, her pain began to drive her insane, Her child's death on her hands, How could she wash her hands?! Locked in her room in grievance, Calling for God in repentance, In mourning she began calling, For her dead baby in longing, And the young girl didn't understand, What her mother couldn't wash off her hands Sickness, her mom became ill, ramblings about the bible began to spill, falling apart she began to break, devoting her life to all that "grace" Other mother, a new person creeped in, hiding where her mother had previously been, Rituals, speaking in tongues, Just to forgive what she had done, The eyes they turned, And the sickness began to churn, Desperately to save the young girls fate, But the other side of the eyes held hate, And the girl had a demon to be exorcised, The mother slowly began to despise, Not the child, but the darkness within, But to the girl she was the same thing Obsessed over saving her from demonic entities, chanting prayers in a robotic melody, "Bring my sweet girl back" mother sang, Cornering her as the church bells rang, In that field, the girl ran to escape, another desperate paranoid rampage, The devil sang a sweet lullaby For a child crying alone to the sky, Open arms, she closed the line, Her mother finished the prayer of exorcise © 2025 LazerRaysAuthor's Note
