The Downfall of the Human Race

Idk... Random thoughts thrown together...

Blood streams from my eyes, 

Crying ripped from my disguise, 

Torn out tears and salt for pain,

 A half a quarter to mend the sane,

 

It's the new age so hail the king,

 Fall to your knees and try to sing, 

Let the ash fill our lungs to choke in dust, 

Watching our fingertips go shined to rust, 

We're getting old and our race is too, 

So we stabbed the clocks to see what it'd do,

 Kicking pebbles in a make believe game, 

And building signs just to spread out our names, 

Starting fires and torching the world, 

Showed off while the gods only hurled,

 My face is being ripped into new identities, 

Skin being stitched to fit new humanities, 

Tell me one thing; are we really better than mammals? 

Or is it normal for the humans to behave worse than animals?

You have created a real vibe here Sarah of things in turmoil in a violent way. Random thoughts can give a sense of immediacy that is powerful so don't worry. Its maybe not be logical but it works.
It is great to try different things!

Well, I don't think we are better than mammals. We are lost in our own thoughts and not doing any good for our future generations! The environment is deteriorating around us and though we know the slow poison taking over the earth... We still go for it!

Your random thoughts speak to me about how destructive the human race is and how it always will be. Look at the animal kingdom, they do not behave as badly as we do. They certainly don't destroy the planet they live on. Thought provoking read.

Ah yes, I notice now what I wrote was a bit off. When I wrote animal I meant the term for wild and untamed but I realize that's not accurate since the animals behave better. I'll probably change it to worse than animals. thank you for your review!

Oh, I think the little things always make more sense than the seemingly bigger ones.
It is the downfall of human race alright, as well as a race in which we're all running not really caring about where we're headed and the purpose? to beat the person next to us.
'Skin being stitched' - I like that expression. Literally it would be us having plastic surgeries lol but metaphorically, I agree. We're so intent on hiding our true faces and to 'blend in' with the world. But idk if what you call as 'new humanities' is what I'd really qualify as humanity...
Much to ponder over this write but that's all my little mind could take in :x

Ah thank you yumna. I rather like the thoughts (thanks to disturbing me) skin being peeled off and stitched... Perhaps I learned about the serial killer who made skin masks too much. I can't rememer his name. Ah well. Insane boy.

We do great things in the world. Yet we kill each other.
We now have the technology to totally annihilate ourselves.

i think humans often behave worse than animals...animals do what they need to do to survive...
humans do much that is not necessary to survive, they start the fires, and take on identities to fit what they do and cover it up...they manipulate...
animals are more honest than we are...they just do.
i think there is much more than just randomness involved in this poem.
