Misunderstood

Misunderstood

A Poem by LazerRays
"

In collaboration with SinisterPotatoe (Jack)

"

Look me in the eye again,

tell me you're not afraid,

of the monster inside of my head,

the kinds that makes me insane,

you say I'm overreacting,

so let me give you a taste,

of the violent tears of personality,

that juggles between love and distaste

Do you think this is a game that we play?

Everyone created equal; the same?

Did you think that I would fade away under the shades of yesterday?

Have you no rules,  no shame?

My world isn’t full of four-leaf clovers, it’s plastic

And no matter how you treat me there’s no continue button when I get game over

I'm sorry I can't control both of me,

Stop blaming me for violence,

First I'm light then I'm dark,

Once screaming and then back to silence,

I wouldn't agree on being the same,

I was never equal minded,

First I'm yin then I'm yang,

There's a term that I'm defined as,

You say that I’m fascinatingly captivated by my insanity,

you don’t look past and see humanity

As you dissect me on your tray, doctors orders, medicated, words recorded,

now they're sending me away

I’ll keep my words to myself, my demons, my secrets at bay,

and excrete them screaming until the pain wavers again

And hope that this evil beneath my mental treatment will fade away,

So I can be quite sadistic,

But you never stop to understand,

The wars and battles raging in my head,

That strike blows on you by my plan,

I wish that I could lay down,

And sleep of dreams forever,

But instead my life remains unsolved,

By humanity who is so unclever,

Praying for a savior

In the light of mornings day,

In the hospital ward’s electric rays,

I feel like a failure,

I pray for a God to save me,

Every night cast by the moon,

In a prison cell of my mind,

I'm going to end it soon...

wow, this is so good...like one voice (poet) dealing with a split personality...going back and forth within himself or herself...and yet represents what it might be like if two separate splits got together.
good work Sarah and Jack....
and Sarah...especially like this phrase..."the violent tears of personality"---
I wish i had written that one...

Thank you so much! It was as honest as honesty is.... Thanks for appreciating!
This is such a dark poem,
and the perfect depiction of a man willing to do suicide, or drugs.
The writers here are excellent.

thank you!!!
Wow, this is very powerful beyond what I can even write. I think those who have suffered from mental illness will relate as much as I did.

Thank you! I like to be relatable :)
All of us dear Sarah. Forget who we are and what we needed.
"I pray for a God to save me,
Every night cast by the moon,
In a prison cell of my mind,
I'm going to end it soon."
Sometimes we must time, regather our minds. Find the person we need to be. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry. Made the reader think and ponder.

I'll agree with Einstein below that this piece does flow as one voice, though the fact that I know your 'voice' ;) I do detect the slightly more aggressive tone in your stanzas.
I think this is brilliantly written on a topic that does need to be discussed more. Nice one, you two :)

Thank you!!!!
I can relate to this now more than ever and I'd be fearless (not naive) in saying there's a cure. But fearfully I'll agree, for now, that it's quite the catastrophic "can't" of any mental health sufferer. (As it relates to me)
