I Said Goodbye to the Sun

I said goodbye to the sun,  

To save her from the night,  

The kind that lurked within my mind,  

To stop me from blacking that light, 

  I watched the sun sink over the horizon,  

Let it leave me in the lonely sky,  

My fingers are freezing from the cold,  

And my heart feels only ice,   

It's just me and this empty space,   

I set the sun free to protect it, 

Better alone than bring her down,  

I had no choice but to neglect it,   

It's funny when you see the sunset,  

You really start feeling alone,  

Let the pitch black swallow you whole,  

Let the pain turn you to stone,   

Like Chaos, like Ouranos, like Atlas, like Hades,  

It hurts; but it's best for the sun to hate me,  

Like Nyx, like Thanatos, like Styx, like Ahklys,  

It's better to die than bring her down with me,

I'm sorry if this is a description of how life really feels for you. But since your "handle" suggests you're drawn to dark haunting ideas (edgar allen poe), maybe this is just the way you enjoy putting words together. Either way, you have many creative & imaginative ways to show how the darkness manifests. This isn't just dumping out depressing thoughts, as some dark poem are. Here you've done a great job of crafting a dark story with strong imagery. I love how you title line can refer to the sun in the sky or it can be a symbol of someone with a disposition too sunny to have him/her around any longer (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

You know I liked this poem though it was filled with sadness and depression..I feel sometimes like this..Just like we have to say goodbye to sun every night , there are times in our lives also when we have to say goodbye to our loved ones , for their good..You know when you love someone , loving teaches you that its not gaining something but its losing many things..If their good is in not being with you , you have to let them go even if you feel like holding them back..Because sometimes its better to bear all the difficulties and sadness alone than to make our loved ones worried with those..You know this piece of writing doesn't feel like written by a 15 year old..Its a writing with so mature thoughts..And yes lot of sadness also..Take care dear..I feel sorry that you feel this way...But you know life is not static if today it makes you sad tomorrow it will make you happy , if today you have to let that sun go tomorrow when morning comes it will come on your own to you this period of sadness and happiness will go on dear...Keep writing...

Seems we don't die as easily as we'ld wish - doesn't even matter how often we wish either. But dying because life really, REALLY hurts is one thing, of boredom or dimness or sameness is another. Life has no obligation to be interesting or meaning-FULL to anyone - so it is up to us to find our own paths and meanings. You remind me of a person I knew… Tania, I talk about her in "Open Mic…"

ever on - sometimes in
