Word Blindness

Word Blindness

A Poem by Sarah Hobbit
"

Dyslexia is so hard to work with.

"

People say 'here read this'

You stumble over the words

having trouble knowing what it's saying

and those people telling u to hurry.

You try tel them you don't want to read

(not wanting to say that you can't)

They just think you are lazy.

You ask for help

and those people think you are slow.

They see you write poetry

 and say 'here write this.'

You try to say:

'Words never flow freely,

they are alway a fight.'

Fighting with Dyslexia

Dyslexia seems IMPOSSIBLE to work with!!
I helped raise a young man with dyslexia, he gradually taught himself to read and write whilst working as a driver for our white water rafting outfit. he had plenty of time between the trips to study and he used to test his progress on the pretty young girls he met along the way. He is now a professional property developer and successful share trader... and he makes my old heart warm!
So take heed Sarah and press on regardless of the difficulty...YOU WILL WIN!

the struggle you feel is evident. It shines through your words. I really felt like I understood your perspective after I was done reading. Remarkable job (:

A perfect summation of the frustration and anxiety of dyslexia. I have worked for years with people with all kinds of reading issues and found that people always make assumptions.
Ignoring that little speech, the powem has a great flow to it. It sparks off not just the issue, but also ideas of peoples preconceptions and pushyness. I loved the poem.

Sometime hard to pay attention. Some of us must work harder. I believe need good study habits. I improved with help in classes like speed reader. Only real weakness is not trying. Greatest people in this world have weaknesses and strength. Just need to keep on the path of learning and writing. A excellent poem. Made old Coyote think.

Wow love how you create the poem and then the ending that just hits the point home so nicely, dyslexia is something that needs understanding :)
