I sit here and wait

I sit here and wait

A Poem by Sarah W. French

I sit alone
a thrown built for one
Listening to subjects
yelling their problems
But no one can hear
my plea

I sit in my tower
Away from the fight
but the words climb ever higher
And I let out sobs
no living creature hears
For why would they care

I sit here
Calling out
help me, love me,
talk to me
But friends don't seem
to care
So I will fall like Alice
and sing sweet lullabies
