We will Rise

We will Rise

A Poem by Sarah W. French
"

This is a poem including all of my silent friends.

"
A genus
A village idiot
A singer
A mute

We stumble for you
We kill for you
We work for you
We will rise above you

I walk among the ashes
Laughing at my pain
Smirking at yours
You think we are strong
But we break,
with every breath

Let us be ourselves
and step out of the
darkened parts of society
You can’t hold us down much longer
I will choose my own team
And we will spill the blood
of those who showed us
All the wrongs of our soul
