My tower

My tower

A Poem by Sarah W. French

Ah to be safe again
To be happy again
To be myself again
Oh how I miss the days of old
When words were simple
And school was unheard of
I want to go back to days
of dresses and innocent beings
But instead I'm locked away in my tower
To fend for myself
And protect my mind
She walked away
He ran away
You never even looked back
My friends have forsaken me
My love has forgotten me
Ah to be safe again
To be happy again
To be myself again
But that can never happen

It's strange, when we were kids growing up under the saftey net of our parents all we wanted was to grow up and be on our own. Once that happened we realized, it's not so easy being responsible for yourself. That safety net is gone and I have to "fend for myself."
