Tongue Tied

Tongue Tied

A Poem by Sarah W. French
"

...

"
My cheeks became free
only to bind my tongue.
Can't utter a fast word
everything comes out
slow.
My lips have been
cracked to sharp edges.
But at least my
teeth are perfect.
My smile is something
the Joker made.
But the teeth are
alined with precision.
They say I'm
beautiful.
They say I'll
light up a room.
But my tongue is
still a prisoner.
I can't say the
shouts I've held for
four years...

Great job. Yes, we focus on how things look - always. We can fix bent teeth, fix this fix that. But what of spontaneous natural human beings ? We can't make people indivitual characters capable of expressing their uniqueness. O for variety in human beings - and people who are comfortable not looking and sounding like the mean (very) average (very).
