Expectations

Expectations

A Poem by Saraplenty

I'm trying to breathe here.

Could you kindly,
remove your torn out
long ago
tortured, toxic heart
from around my neck?

The noose is more than I can bare.

I am hanging.

Floundering desperately,
as you cooly,
drive by the ghost of my shadow,
you left behind.

Twisting out in the cold wind.

You smile.

Sickly sweet.
with a wave in your eyes,
a f**k you in your teeth,
plunging the knife into my deep.

And they expect me to walk.

Without the limp.

Dented in my soul,
from where you drop-kicked,
my love given,
so lavishly adorned across your lap.

I'm trying to breathe here.

My Dear Writing Friend,
A very thought provoking write that begs one to muse how they treat their relationships. Do they leave behind a ghost of a shadow if couple-hood fails or can they leave in friendship? Your poem stirs a person’s pneuma, well done.

Blessings, Laughing-Bear

This piece is great, you describe ideas and feelings that sadly most of us will experience at some point in such a unique and visceral way. Particularly like these lines

"with a wave in your eyes,
a f**k you in your teeth,
plunging the knife into my deep."

Nice work.

I love your work Sara. You can express into words things I didn't even know could be expressed in words. It's beautifully written and it broke my heart.

About
I am awesome. And sometimes, I vomit things on to paper to aid in breathing. I write for me, to release what it is I am feeling at that moment, and because I like turning those feelings into so.. more..
