How you loved me well

How you loved me well

A Poem by Saraplenty

With the bruises fading,

and muscles no longer aching,

I recall…

How you loved me well.

Oh how my heart remembers,

the many nights of reaching out,

begging for affection,

only to find rejection,

at the sight of your turned back.

This is….

How you loved me well.

You watched my tears fall,

as I dug through the dirt,

trying to find roots,

to plant myself inside you,

while you pushed me in the mud.

Cry out…

How you loved me well.

And with soul crushing blows,

finding home on my throat,

meant to silence my spirit,

cause you just could not bear it,

the truth spilling from my lips.

I feel…

How you loved me well.

I feel it,

I feel it,

I feel it,

I feel it.

And now...

I know better than to believe it.

Author's Note

Saraplenty
This was written days after my ex-boyfriend choked me. Even with all my years of knowledge and second-hand personal experience, I did not see it coming. And never expected to be a statistic.

About
I am awesome. And sometimes, I vomit things on to paper to aid in breathing. I write for me, to release what it is I am feeling at that moment, and because I like turning those feelings into so.. more..
