Fear

We hide in the darkness
The only and last source of comfort,
As anxiety takes over
And leaves us alert.

 

Day by day we think
'When will I die?
Today? Tomorrow?
Will it be them or I?'

 

We shake we tremble we always look over our shoulder
To see if we are safe or are in danger,
But no matter what we know we are never safe
And we will never ask help from a friend or stranger.

 

We starve ourselves because we're so afraid
That they'll strike when our backs are turned,
Choke us cut us stab us beat us
And even leave us with our skin burned.

 

We hide in the darkness
Waiting for it all to end,
Crying the pain away
Knowing that nothing can ever amend.
