Running

Running

A Story by SaraVelitol

My feet pounding on fresh soil as the chilled midnight air freezes my lungs in time. Everything swirls around in the darkest of colors, waiting for that ray of light to bring life back into them once again. The rustling of leaves the only sound other than the howling winds blowing against everything in its path. My breaths turning into fog in front of my eyes, blinding my vision every other minute. I have no idea where I'm going, just knowing that freedom awaits is enough to push me forward. The energy around me is overwhelming, making me run faster than i ever had before. Everything falling behind as I continue forward. Crunching sounds erupt behind me, destroying everything in its way as it follows me. A monster? A murderer? An old past life? I didn't know nor didn't care. All I was determined to do was get out of this place before that thing made me a part of it forever...
