I Will Wait

I Will Wait

A Poem by Sara

Forever and ever I will wait,

For the time to come that you feel this pain

It ached and it strains

You will cry and you will hurt

Because you don't want to be the one I desert

You will miss every moment of every day I'm not there,

Trying to pretend that you just don't care

But eventually that mask will break and you will fall to your knees

Begging and praying; "God, please..."

Take this pain away, I don't want to sit here in agony

You will wonder how to fill the void so you can hide the pain people see

You will cry and beg yourself to dismiss the pain

Wondering why the world around you seems so vain

It will be the first thing you think about and the last thing at night

At the end of the tunnel, there will be no light

You will have to learn how to say goodbye

But you will be so hurt, you wont dare to try.

Last, you will claim the pain inside something of your own,

And once this happens, maybe I will be able to get some sleep,

Knowing I'm not feeling this pain alone.

I like the subtle bitterness that is revealed in this piece; I can understand and relate to it. I feel my favourite lines are the last three:

'Last, you will claim the pain inside something of your own,
And once this happens, maybe I will be able to get some sleep,
Knowing I'm not feeling this pain alone.'

I can not express how many times I have thought this about some unrequited love. If only for a moment they knew the pain I was going through than perhaps I could rest, live again, maybe even eventually move on. Well written. Bravissimi.
