Remember

Remember

A Poem by Sara
"

tribute to victims of holocaust

"

Tell me one more time,

Of that day when you were nine,

And you said that you remembered

            Every word.

You thought that you could stay

Free of guilt until today,

But the men with guns remembered

            Every word.

They sent you to that place

Filled with the unwanted race

Till they had worked from you

            Every last word.

Remember how it felt

When to you the cards were dealt,

And the silence of your kin

            Said every word.

This is a fantastic and touching poem. The repetition works perfectly for dramatic effect and really gives the poem a strong emotional presence. One for my library I feel. NH

Being Jewish..yes I can feel what you were saying..I have tried to trace my roots through Gernmany but to no avail..I know one line escaped to France and for years we were taught that we were French..but we weren't..Sad when a group of people can become so afraid that they completely hide who they really are..God bless...Valentine
